Hi there! I’m Lauren Singer, the founder and CEO of Package Free, and I live a Zero Waste lifestyle. How did I get here?

I was an Environmental Studies major in college, but I made the conscious decision to live Zero Waste in 2012 when a classmate would bring lunch to class every week in a single use plastic bag holding a plastic water bottle, a takeout container, and utensils. I would sit there and think, we are supposed to be the future of this planet and here she is with her trash, messing it up.

One night I went home to make dinner and realized that everything in my refrigerator, my beauty products, my cleaning products, and my clothing were all made of, or packaged in, plastic and that I was such a hypocrite for judging my classmate. This was an Aha! moment for me. I decided that I not only needed to claim to love the environment, but actually had to live like it, so I started my Zero Waste journey.
