Several years ago, we received a shipment of around 600 damaged Superlocals. The boxes they arrived in were less like boxes and more like soft cardboard carcasses holding loose, banging around hunks of steel.
A few months ago we started using damaged Superlocals as weights to hold down fabric for pattern making. This lead us to the first Superlocal trash project where we re-purpose a damaged part, this time into a small desk/hand/do-what-you-want-with-it weight.
Kilo weighs 1052g. Its 3D printed handle is attached to the steel Superlocal body by threading the holes that were originally meant for magnets. The underside has a soft ultra-suede pad to protect surfaces. Please remember, Kilo may come with a variety of scratches, dings or dents.
Also, if anyone wants to make something with a damaged Superlocal trash body, let us know!
Helloooo creepy dude who showed up in photoshop after trying their generative expand ai to extend Che-Wei's hand through the top of the frame so I could get a wider crop.
Peace and love,
Che-Wei + Taylor
