Clean-up guide for your Mac

Here is how to declutter your Mac in no time

Free up purgeable space

Purgeable space on Mac may contain lots of things like cache, temporary system files, backups, and if you use Optimize Mac Storage, some locally stored iCloud data. Eventually, macOS will clear that on its own, but here’s how to free it if you need space right now.

1. Go to Maintenance
2. Click View Tasks and select Free Up Purgeable Space
3. Click Run

Declutter trash bins

Quite often, you move files to Trash and forget about them. However, they keep remaining on your Mac. Plus, there are other trash folders you may not even know about, like hidden bins of some apps or external drives. Make sure your machine is clutter-free by following these 3 steps.

1. Go to Trash Bins
2. Click Scan and wait for the results
3. Click Empty

Uninstall unused apps

Unused apps are one of the biggest space-waters. They sit on your Mac, gobbling up valuable storage. And when you finally decide to delete them, chances are some leftovers will remain on your Mac. Follow these steps to ensure that apps are uninstalled completely.

1. Go to Uninstaller and find Unused Apps
2. Select those you want to remove
3. Click Uninstall

Pro tip:

An already-watched movie, unneeded documents, huge archives… you may have forgotten about them, but your Mac remembers. Go to Large & Old Files to detect and safely delete them to free up space.
