Trying to make sense of the AI deluge

Our new, already old list of AI tools

Last week we published a directory of generative AI tools for creators. It lists, describes, and evaluates all the AI offerings we've heard the most about, been the most curious about, and found the most useful so far.

It covers 37 tools with varying usefulness (and only two of them are Descript). Since then about a thousand new ones have hit the market. It's super hard to keep track of it all and it'd be next to impossible to keep this list current. But we'll try! Look for periodic updates as new tools emerge and all of this comes into focus.

Meanwhile if, amid all the clamor, you're looking for a little clarity on what tools might be worth plugging into your workflow, our list should help. Here's the list

Endorsed for helping creators

LinkedIn isn't just for when you're looking for a job or suffering from a lack of thought leadership. It's also great for promoting your content.

Get comfortable on camera

Some people are naturally comfortable on camera. Normal people can learn to be. Here's some guidance to get there.

Descript's green screen: also an AI tool

Tried Descript's new AI green screen? It uses AI to remove the background in your video, so you can put yourself or your subject in any setting you want. Did we mention it's made out of AI? Anyway, here's an excellent tutorial on green screen from David Mbugua. David is not an AI but he is a relentless creator — and an incredible resource for anyone learning to make video in Descript (or any of the other tools he breaks down). Please check out his channel

How quick, short-form video is helping these "two dudes" expand their audience

The creators of Two Dudes Watch Cartoons (a podcast about exactly that) have generated hundreds of thousands of views and likes on TikTok by posting short-form videos of their simple but engaging video podcast. "Right now, there is this golden opportunity sitting in front of us saying, "Hey, if you put this in a vertical video format, we'll try to show it to some new people for you," says co-host and producer Evan Lian.
