Announcing Descript Podcast Studio, free transcription, and more

Today we’re releasing the version of Descript we’ve dreamed of since conceiving of the company: a full multitrack podcast production studio.

Loaded with new features

With multitrack editing, recording, live collaboration, volume automation, and more, this is by far our biggest release ever — it's practically a new app.

Check out the new site for an overview, and then download the new release and play around with the tutorial project. (If you already have Descript installed, it'll automatically update.)

Overdub: AI voice editing

Today's release has one more feature that you've never seen before. With Overdub, you can make editorial corrections to your voice recordings by simply typing the words, and then we use AI to synthesize audio of your voice and blend it in seamlessly. Give it a try and join the closed beta.

Transcription is now free

Since starting Descript, we’ve expected that AI transcription would rapidly become more accurate, faster, and less expensive — and our costs have come down enough that we’re ready to do what we’ve always wanted: just include it for free in a Descript subscription.

To make Descript's podcasting tools as accessible as possible, we've also reduced the price of a subscription to just $10 per month when paid annually.

The end of the beginning

We think of today’s release as Descript 1.0 — our first coherent take on the future of audio/video creation.
