Saturday marked the beginning of National Alcohol Awareness Month (NAAM), a public health program established to increase awareness regarding issues related to alcohol and de-stigmatize the disease of addiction. As such, we are taking a pause to talk about a very important topic impacting millions of people across the U.S.: Alcohol Use Disorder.
This month — and year round — we aim to foster a responsible drinking culture and ensure you have access to support resources should you or a loved one ever need them. You can find a list of organizations and resources centered around education, prevention, treatment, and recovery at Drizly’s Alcohol Support Resource Center.
If you are interested in disabling your Drizly account or the account of a loved one, we are here to help. Please reach out to us at support@drizly.com.
This month, we will also be partnering with Vibrant Emotional Health (Vibrant), a national mental health nonprofit that believes that everyone can achieve emotional well-being with dignity and respect. Vibrant has been working in the mental health field for over 50 years. Learn more about Vibrant's programs here.
As always, take care of yourself and each other. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988 Lifeline) is available for anyone who is struggling with substance use or is feeling depressed, anxious, upset, or just needs to speak to a trained crisis counselor. Individuals can call or text 988 or use the chat service (https://988lifeline.org/chat/) 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The 988 Lifeline is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and Vibrant serves as the nonprofit administrator. The 988 Lifeline network includes over 200 locally-operated centers offering free and confidential emotional support. You can also contact SAMHSA’s National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357) for treatment referrals.
Asking for help can be difficult, but we hope these resources make it possible for anyone struggling to receive the support they deserve.
