Butter updates: A crisp new look (+ a lot of smooth new stuff) ✨

We hope you've had a great weekend in presence of people (or pets, places, foods or whatever you fancy) you love and feel energised for a new week!
We're back to share a few of the new things we've been adding to Butter recently. We're quite excited and hope you find these things as useful as we do!

🤩 A crisp new look for Butter
It's time - Butter is getting a makeover 💄
In the coming months we'll be rolling out a new crisp, clean and sharper look to the platform! Our new look captures the essence of everything we believe makes Butter feel amazing, while making the entire experience a lot more simple and elegant 👌
Here's a quick overview of some of the things we're updating in the new look:
- A completely new icon set designed specifically for Butter.
- Updated colour profile to make the colours feel just right!
- A completely new beautiful font
- A more friendly look with rounded corners
...and a lot more beautiful little details (let us know if you spot them)!
To begin with we've updated most of our in-app experience as well as the much beloved Butter waiting rooms! We're super excited about this and hope you enjoy the new look as much as we do!
🙈 Hide self view
Raise your hand if you're a bit tired of having to look at yourself in every virtual session you have. We can at least nod to having that feeling from time to time 😅
Therefore, we're excited to have implemented the new 'Hide self view' feature, which lets you hide your own tile, so all your participants can see you, but you don't need to see yourself!
Activate 'Hide self view' from the video menu or by pressing H on your keyboard!
📌 Pin messages in chat
"Holy Moses the chat is on fire! Wish I could keep track of the important messages somehow..."
We’ve all been there, when you know that something important has been said, but you can’t seem to find it, and you’ve wasted a good few minutes scrolling through all the chat messages. ⏳
Well, now we’ve made it super simple for you to pin messages that you need to get back to later. You can of course pin as many messages as you like 😉
Give it a spin and let us know what you think!

In addition from the stuff mentioned above there are a few smaller updates worth mentioning as well:
- Better in-app feedback to see when participants are joining the sessions, are experiencing connection issues or disconnect from the call.
- 'Remember settings' feature when joining Butter calls so you don't have to toggle the same things on and off every time 🙌
- Removed auto unmute when selected in queue.
