We’ll cut right to the chase. The Chiefs and the Eagles are facing off at Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025. Given the final two were just decided last night, it’s likely that many people, particularly from Kansas City and Philadelphia, will be trying to get last-minute flights to the big game.
Here are some of our tried-and-true tips to get you there without spending an arm and a leg.
What if you invested in Uber before they went public?
Mark Cuban turned them down at a valuation of $10 million and missed out on a 919,900% return when they went public at over $80 billion!
And by the time we hear about industry-changing disruptions like this, it's usually too late… but right now there’s a tech-startup making waves behind the scenes. Like Uber turned vehicles into income-generating assets, they’re turning smartphones into the easiest passive income source imaginable.
They were named the #1 fastest growing software company by Deloitte in 2023 and have already earned over +$325M for their customers.
This tech startup is Mode Mobile, and unlike Uber you have a chance to invest in their company at just $0.26/share before they go public.
Here’s how you can invest and even earn 100% bonus shares for a limited time.*
We try to dissuade travelers from booking one-ways on long-haul flights. Long story short: The math doesn’t math. But that’s not the case for short-haul flights.
If you search for one-way tickets, you may be able to find a combined sum through two separate airlines—such as Delta on the way there and United on the way back—that is cheaper than a roundtrip on a single airline. In short, mixing and matching can give you a pretty good shot at finding the lowest price.
Cast a wider net by searching for nearby airports. Flying into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is undoubtedly going to be the most convenient, but in a pinch you could also consider flying into:
Those airports may have cheaper options, even when factoring in a rental car to get you the rest of the way there.
Also, staying flexible with your departure airport can lead to lower fares as well. For fans from Philadelphia, consider taking the train to the New York City area and flying out of EWR, LGA, or JFK instead of Philadelphia (PHL). And for fans from Kansas City, consider taking the bus to Omaha or Springfield, Missouri, and flying out of OMA or SGF instead of Kansas City (MCI).
Time flexibility pays off. Red-eye flights and less popular times of day often come with smaller price tags. A slight shift in your schedule—like flying a day earlier or later—can also lead to significant savings.
Trusted Housesitters connects homeowners and house and pet sitters so you can work remotely without paying for accommodations.

The search doesn’t have to end when you hit “pay.” Use our Price Alerts in-app feature to monitor your flight after booking. If prices drop, you’ve got options:
Within 24 hours of booking: As long as the flight is 7+ days away, rebook at the lower price, then cancel the original flight for a full refund.
Why book the new flight before you cancel the old one? If you cancel the old flight first and then miss snagging the new flight at a great price, you’re out of luck and left with no ticket.
But, if you book the new flight first but then take too long and miss the 24-hour window to cancel the first one, you can just cancel the new one, keep the first one, and you're no worse off than you were in the beginning.
After 24 hours of booking: For most non-basic economy tickets, cancel for a flight credit and rebook, saving the difference for your next trip.
To set up a Flight Price Alert, head to the app and tap the button to set up an alert for your trip to the big game (or any other trips that you want to take in the future!).
If you’re traveling as a group, compare the price of booking tickets individually versus all together, as booking tickets one by one (or in small groups, at least) could save you some money.
Why does this happen? Airlines use fare buckets (price tiers for seats), and when you search for multiple tickets, they’ll only show you the price for seats that are available in the same bucket.
If you split up the tickets among your group, you could get some in the lower price tier and some in the higher tier, saving money overall. In some cases, searching for individual tickets rather than for a larger group may not change the fare at all, but it is a good idea to take a look, just in case.
Here’s an example: There’s one seat left for $200, but you need two tickets. If you search for two tickets, the airline will skip that $200 seat and offer you a higher price for both. However, if you book the $200 ticket first and then get your second ticket in the next lowest tier at $300, you’ve saved $100 across two tickets.
6. Use points and milesUsing your credit card points or airline miles is a smart way to cut costs on last-minute flights. Airlines love to make points super confusing, but if you’ve got some frequent flyer miles ready to go, see if they can help lighten the financial load. You can often get great value from points on last-minute flights. These are our top tips for snagging cheap flights to the Super Bowl. But there are a bunch of other tips for locking in a great airfare every other day of the year. Read them all here. Now, it’s the Super Bowl. Soon it’ll be Coachella, or the F1 races, or Oktoberfest, or the Jonas Brothers 20th anniversary tour. No matter which event you’re heading to, make sure you don’t overspend on flights. Visit the Going App, set up a price alert, and get notified when we find a great deal that’ll save you hundreds. All you have to do is book. |
