😷Coronavirus and Staying Healthy with EVF 🤧💪🏼

In addition to early Spring being the tail end of cold and flu season, this year we are also aware of reports of the Coronavirus in our area. We are staying informed of the situation through CDC daily updates, and are determined to do everything we can to keep EVF a clean and safe space.

We are deep cleaning all floors and gym equipment daily, which include bars, KBs, DBs, rigs, ergs, and all common surfaces. Bathrooms have always been disinfected and deep cleaned daily and we continue to do so.

Instead of panicking, let's instead all take a breath and be proactive to stay healthy. With that, here are some tips to keep you healthy during your time in and out of the box. (And just to point out, these tips apply all the time, not just in times of high anxiety such as these.)

1) If you’re sick, snotty, have a fever, coughing, sneezing or have chest congestion, STAY HOME! The notion of “sweating it out” is never a great idea for you or your fellow exercisers, but it’s particularly risky right now.  While we appreciate your commitment to your fitness, please remain at home if you are not feeling well. Coaches would be happy to recommend workouts that you can complete at home while you are recovering!

2) Wipe down your equipment with disinfecting wipes BEFORE and after your workout. That includes all equipment: ergs, barbells, KBs, DBs, mats, wallballs, etc.  Give 'em a wipe.

3) Wash your hands well with warm water and soap when you’re done with your workout, for at least 20 seconds. Need help with doing it for that long? Try singing ‘Happy Birthday’ or ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’…that's how preschoolers learn proper hygienic timing, so we got this!

4) Keep your hands away from your face especially post WOD. Can’t help it? Self dispensing anti-bacterial hand sanitizer is available throughout the gym for your use.

5) Keep your immune system humming: Keep working out, eat a healthy, balanced diet, get adequate sleep. All the things we advocate doing on a regular basis.

6) Stay educated on facts with some of our favorite resources:

We love seeing your smiling faces, so let’s have a great week, and stay safe!

Yours in health,
Team EVF
