DIA SA/NT Has a Fresh New Look!

Welcome to our newly minted email format. Thanks to Fig Tree Digital for design and development, we hope you like it.

Having taken time to remember those who fought for freedom and created the ANZAC spirit last week, it’s hard to believe April has come to a close already.

It has often been said the biggest advancements and inventions have occurred as a result of conflict; I would like to think we have a collective presence where ideas can flourish in times of peace.

To this end the DIA - nationally and locally – have been working on programs to support and celebrate all designers. Originally founded as the Society of Designers for Industry in 1947, the Design Institute of Australia turns 70 this year.

2017 also marks the 25th anniversary of the South Australian/Northern Territory DIA Awards. Whilst the awards celebrate great design, our 25th anniversary is also something to celebrate. The 2017 awards evening will provide accolades to South Australian’s best in the industries of interior architecture, graphic design, furniture and product design.

For those of you who joined us to celebrate the launch of the awards on April 7th at Brickworks, thank you. It certainly was a wonderful gathering, and the collective goodwill displayed a very positive mindset within the design industry.

The lead up to our 25th Awards offers an opportunity to once again celebrate some of the great designers amongst us who have received accolades for their work, offered inspiration and encouragement. In the coming months we hope to share some fabulous design stories with you. At the same time we congratulate Graphic Designer, Daisy Sugars as this year’s DIA SA/NT GOTYA – Graduate of the Year. Congratulations are also extended to Dr Veronika Kelly and her Visual Communication team School of Art, Architecture and Design at UniSA for their continued high quality of graduates.

Apart from the awards program, in the coming months we have a fee proposal workshop, a members mingle,  WIDD – World Industrial Design Day, Live Design and DIA Exhibition event to look forward to and become involved in.

We are always looking for ideas and assistance, so if you’re keen to be involved in planning an event or have an idea please let us know.

Thank you to our State Councillors and the Awards committee for your continued efforts; it’s an exciting time.

  Cheers,
