Ever wondered how Waymo can see in the rain? Find out in here.

Hello from Waymo,

Thanks for joining us on this journey. As we work to bring fully
self-driving technology to more people and places, here’s a peek under the hood at what we’ve been up to.

It would be life-changing”
Meet Max:
history teacher, mountain climber, endurance swimmer, and self-driving enthusiast. He’s also legally blind.
Waymo is proud to support the Foundation
for Blind Children and other inspiring organizations as part of our public education campaign, Let’s Talk Self-Driving. Together, we believe in building a safer and more connected world. For more stories like Max’s, follow the campaign on Twitter @selfdriving.
Low visibility? Not for Waymo
We’re often asked how Waymo’s self-driving technology perceives weather conditions like rain storms or fog, which can challenge even a human driver. The answer? Some very cool technology.
Waymo is designing its system to handle almost any situation, including the dust storms that are common in Arizona. Watch how Waymo detects other vehicles in a dust storm, even when our vehicle camera visibility is limited.
See you next time,
Team Waymo
