Fertility in Focus | Our 2019 in review

Your monthly newsletter from Carrot is here. See the year we had!

2019 was an incredible year for the Carrot Team, and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. But before we fully dive into 2020, we wanted to reflect on some of our favorite moments from the past 12 months.

We made it faster and easier to pay for care.

One of the highlights of our year was rolling out the Carrot Card. Our goal was to introduce a first-of-its-kind debit card that gives U.S. employees immediate access to employer-sponsored fertility benefits without having to pay out-of-pocket or wait for reimbursements.

We expanded access.

We expanded our global network of Carrot providers to more than 2,700 eligible clinics, agencies, pharmacies, and legal services partners. The Carrot Experts program also grew to include unlimited access to even more reproductive endocrinologists, emotional counselors, adoption guides, and gestational carrier experts. This makes it possible for our Carrot care navigators to continue helping members pursue whatever path to parenthood they choose, including donor-assisted reproduction or adoption, which now make up nearly 10% of all claims.

We were humbled.

The Carrot team was inspired by the thousands of comments and stories from our members about how we were able to be of service to their fertility healthcare. We were also honored to be named to the inaugural CB Insights Digital Health 150, which showcased the most promising and innovative digital health companies in the world.

We helped companies (and their people) around the world.

Carrot supported the global workforce of companies like Peloton, Slack, Stitch Fix, and Box with fertility benefits this year. As a result, we worked with customers in 40 countries across six continents and processed tens of millions of dollars worth of claims in 33 different currencies. Our customer base only continues to grow, and we’re aiming to deliver $3 billion in new employer-sponsored fertility coverage at 100 companies in 2020.

None of these achievements would have been possible without you. We can’t wait to continue working together towards our mission of fertility care for all in 2020! To see our full list of milestones from 2019, be sure to check out our CEO and co-founder Tammy Sun’s LinkedIn post
