Fear Less Build More

Back in June, we introduced you to Girls Garage, the bad-to-the-bone nonprofit that encourages young girls to own their strength and take charge of their future while teaching them how to build and create, well, pretty much anything. Skateboarding, screen printing, intricate metalwork—these girls can do it all.

And now you can see them in action! We recently launched the new Girls Garage website and rolled out the full beautiful, badass identity system. We designed a tough-as-nails logo and typeface, suite of custom illustrations and badges, graphics that proudly adorn the walls of their brand new home, and of course, the small, but mighty site that lovingly tells the organization's story and reflects the indomitable spirit of their Fearless Builder Girls.

Girls Garage may be based in California, but that shouldn't stop you from donating, reading and supporting their mission however you can.

New Collaborations

We sure do like a new challenge around these parts, so when Grant Thornton came knocking on our doors with a few questions about our process, we were intrigued. What could one of the world’s leading independent financial advisory firms want from a small team of hardworking outsiders obsessed with typography, language and post-it notes?

As it turns out, quite a bit! We’ve been brainstorming and strategizing with Grant Thornton on a number of potential projects, exploring how to push their brand to the next level as the firm leans into the future alongside their worldwide clientele. Ours is a unique partnership, one that is sure to yield some beautiful work in the months ahead. Keep an eye out, Chicago!

Get to know Grant Thornton.

Thanks to You!

We did it! Reason to Give's 8th Annual Back to School Drive was once again a resounding success. We were able to provide 100 neighborhood students, from kindergarten to high school, with supplies and backpacks for the new school year. And we couldn’t have done it without help from all of you, our generous Firebelly family!

On September 1st, each child received a Kitz for Kids pack of supplies, complete with all the tools they'll need to learn and succeed in the classroom. As always, thank you, thank you, a thousand times, thank you for your continued support. We cannot wait to see what this year has in store for the kids!

See how you've helped!

Sports, Short-shorts + Friendship

And the third annual Crosspark Challenge trophy goes to…... Someoddpilot!  The SOP team (aka Annika and Anton "the Russian") threw down hard in limbo, knockout and kickball to take home the W for the designer’s field day.

Humboldt Park witnessed over 50 designers, developers and just plain rad folks come together to bare some skin and partake in high-stakes competition. After some intense volleyball matches, a nail-biting corn hole tournament , and a disturbing pie-eating showdown, we moved the party to a nearby rooftop where we ate mounds of pizza and received super official medals, including Biggest Bro, Best Trash Talker and the coveted Best Legs.

Highest of fives to Leo Burnett Dept of Design and OneDesign for being fierce opponents and to our lovely referees for keeping us all honest. We’ve already begun training for next year’s Crosspark—our sights are set on that trophy.

 Captain Crosspark says "Stay Safe."
