I’m not mad about missing Halloween

Healthyish friends,

I'm on the road this week. Well, actually, I'm on a boat. Yes, it's for work, and no, I can't tell you more than that, but it's gonna be a very healthyish week.

To be honest, I'm not mad about missing Halloween this year. What used to be my favorite holiday is now a time I dread because people make bad decisions and I used up my best costume idea in 2010 when I went as the chef from 'Wet Hot American Summer.'

But just because I'm ignoring Halloween doesn't mean you have to. In the Healthyish office, we took it upon ourselves to try some new candy, and I'm still hoarding ALL the coconut butter cups. And, call me crazy, but I'd be psyched to get one of these guys in my trick-or-treat bag.

In more grown-up news, Christine Muhlke has been sleeping very well since she started sipping this before bed. I've been sipping it too, and I think she's on to something. You know what else helps you sleep? Chilling on the caffeine. I'm on my third month of no coffee, and I nixed the matcha a few weeks ago. More on that another time.

Also on Healthyish this week, Gillian Ferguson goes to find out how this one dish became a celebrity obsession. (I love the image of Nancy Reagan pleading, "Wolfgang, what did you do with my salad?!”)

Lastly, have you checked out New York magazine's 50th anniversary issue? It. Is. Bananas. I read it cover-to-cover on one, long subway ride, which was the perfect place to process all the weird, chaotic, congested beauty of NYC. Start with party kids, Martha, and the Simbas, and go from there.

Until next week,
