Indoor projects, fireproofing, steel production, and upcoming products made from marine plastic waste

Indoor and fireproof projects

Did you know that our furniture is just as good indoors as it is outdoors? Our products for indoor use have the same uncompromising quality, the same wood options (actually a few more) and of course the choice between 200 different RAL colors for steel components as our outdoor products. You can also have your furniture fireproofed. Be inspired by taking a look at some photos of our furniture being used in a number of indoor projects here.

One year and 15 Parklets: On Bergmannstrasse, one of the most vibrant streets in Berlin, parking spaces were replaced by a number of Parklets 2.0 for a one-year evaluation period. The objective was to curb traffic in the area, while facilitating urban life. Read more about our lovely Berlin project and see some photos of the results here.

Follow our production process from A to Z

We know that many of you are committed to sustainability, so in our last newsletter we shared the first in a series of film clips that present our entire production process. The first clip focused on our wood processing, the next one will focus on our steel production – which is also sustainable, of course.

It is no secret that the steel industry is highly polluting, something that we take very seriously. In the Nordic countries, however, the steel industry’s carbon footprint is 30% lower than the global average. This is why we use quality steel from the Swedish producer SSAB, which is at the forefront of sustainable steel production. SSAB plans to be fossil-free by 2045, and Vestre has already placed an order for SSAB’s ‘Hybrit’ fossil-free steel. We are working constantly to find the best and greenest production methods, so that our furniture can be used by future generations – and not thrown away by ours.

From marine plastic waste to
high-end products

One of Vestre’s cornerstones is a focus on sustainability and a circular economy. The vision and objectives of the newly-established company Ogoori are entirely consistent with Vestre’s ‘Zero Vision’ – which is to make zero products that do not live forever. Drifting marine plastic waste will be retrieved from nature and eternally stored in high-end products that can be utilized in commercial buildings and public spaces. All of Ogoori’s profits will be
recycled into more clean-up operations – as long as there is plastic to be found in the ocean. You can learn more about the project here.
