New York Magazine was recognized Tuesday by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) with two National Magazine Awards. The magazine was honored in the category of Single-Topic Issue for “The War and New York,” which examined the ripple effect of the Israel-Hamas war in New York City.
Under the leadership of photography director Jody Quon, the magazine won for the first time for overall excellence in photography, with ASME citing “Let’s Have a Real Conversation About Barbara Walters,” photographs by Brigitte Lacombe; the 2023 July 3–16 issue featuring a cover portrait of RFK Jr. by Philip Montgomery; and “The Power Issue,” photographed by Mark Peterson.
