David Nelson and Marlon Patton form the jazz duo Nelson Patton. While touring a maple syrup farm in New York, the Georgia musicians learned that trees use energy stored from "last year's sunlight." That phrase became the title of their latest album, which released last Friday. The opening track "Can We Make It?" is an electric blend of trombone and drums, hope and tension. In short, it sounds like how we feel right now. Nelson Patton shot this video pre-COVID-19 at Museum Tinguely in Basil, Switzerland, while touring with the legendary Alabama artist and musician Lonnie Holley.

Aching for a Southern road trip? We took Micah Cash's wildly popular "Waffle House Vistas" photo essay from 2019 and made this 96-page hardcover book. The intro by Maurice Carlos Ruffin reminds us of a time when we could sit "back to back, shoulder to shoulder."
