It's been a very busy 2 months!

New Product Launch

We've got 2 new products coming your way next week and we're pumped about them. I've been feverishly building prototypes and am happy to announce we have a final version in production.

Stay tuned for the launch email

What We're Listening
To Right Now

We put together a list of tunes we're playing at the shop these days. You may see a pattern of sadness ... but I assure you we're doing ok ... really.

Wholesale Is Picking Up!

As many of you know, we made it through 2020 by the skin of our teeth. One of the biggest reasons last year was such a struggle was because our wholesale partners had to close their doors.

We are so happy to announce that our wholesale accounts are back (we just got a new one from Nordstrom 🤙) and we can start breathing again.

What We're Watching

We have a lot of kids at Misc. Goods ...So, we literally only watch family friendly entertainment these days ... But, they are still very excellent choices for all ages.

Song of the Sea

Absolutely gorgeous story telling. Song of the Sea covers some of life's most difficult issues with wonderful grace and honesty (and fantasy).

One Year Alone in Forest of Sweden

This video may require a little more patience and/or specific interest as you watch Erik Grankvist build a cabin in the forest of Sweden.

April and the Extraordinary World

Another great animated film for all you Steampunks out there. This one is a little more intense for young kiddos but appropriate for most and a great story.

We learned a lot last year and we're learning even more this year. Here's our top 3 lessons in 2021 so far.

1) Making & Designing Is The Engine:
A seemingly natural statement. But with the work of simply running the business it has always been difficult to focus on design. This year we've been able to change that because of ...

2) The Value of Other People
I've always been averse to growing the Misc. Goods team because I was afraid that the company couldn't support more ppl. This year we took the risk and the value each team member brings is huge. It's also freed me up to design while also off-loading much of the stress such as production. Speaking of which, we've learned ...

3) A Good Source is Hard to Find
Running a business is about partnerships. Whether it's with retailers or manufacturers, a good partnership is hard to find. But when you do find it ... hold on tight. The difference is essential to the health of the company. We're currently in a struggle w/ a supplier and ... well ... it sucks.

The Ceramics of Eric Roinestad

W/ unusual shapes and chunky textures, Eric Roinestad creates ceramic pieces that stand alone in style and approach.

Owl by Heavy Eyes

Our friends Matt and Kathleen from Heavy Eyes continue to inspire us w/ their use of design and structures.

How I Built This: Selina Tobaccowala

As business owners, we absolutely love drawing inspiration from the podcast 'How I Built This' and the episode about Selina is great.

That's it for now. Keep your 👀's out for the new product launch next week and until then.

Best,
