The secret to sounder sleep đź’¤

My braincare journey started with sleep. Or a lack of it.

So as I know from personal experience, if we aren’t getting enough sleep, we’re in trouble. In fact, you can go longer without food than without sleep. Because while we tend to think of sleep as a passive activity, it’s actually an active state, where our bodies are carrying out all sorts of processes in the brain and body:

  • Your brain regulates neurotransmitter and hormone levels ⚖️
  • It also sorts memories and processes information during REM sleep đź’
  • The glymphatic system filters unwanted and waste chemicals from the brain ♻️
  • Your immune system releases groups of proteins called cytokines, which are essential for cell messaging function đź“Ł
  • Your body increases the supply of blood to your muscles, supporting tissue growth and repair đź’Ş

And to get the best sleep, you need the right nutrition—essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, health fats. After all, that’s what did it for me, and what ultimately led to the Smart Supplement.

So we need sleep. And therefore we need the right nutrients. But are there any other ways to improve our sleep? We asked the Sleep Scientist Sophie Bostock for her top tips. 👇

Where's the Mg?

We didn’t include any magnesium in the Smart Supplement, even though it supposedly has benefits associated with sleep. Find out why, and if it’s worth taking a separate magnesium supplement.
