Federal Policy Updates

House Republicans have put forward a spending bill for 2024 that would slash $767 million in spending on federal HIV programs, including: Defunding the EHE Initiative, all of Part F of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, and cutting over $150 million in funding for the Minority AIDS Initiative. National HIV advocacy groups are coming together to #SaveHIVFunding at USCHA.

Medicaid Expansion will no longer launch Oct. 1. That timeline was contingent on the General Assembly approving a budget, but budget talks have stalled and legislators have now tied Medicaid Expansion to the authorization of new casinos and legalization of video poker terminals.
