Working together to keep Maps trustworthy

Building a trustworthy map, together

People trust recommendations from others who've been there. That's why the reviews and experiences you share make for such a helpful map. It’s also why we invest in built-in protections to block fake reviews, inaccurate info, and other forms of unhelpful content. Read on to learn more about our efforts to keep Maps trustworthy and reliable, and the important role our community plays.

Tips for writing helpful reviews
Here are some things to keep in mind when posting a review:
Share your genuine experience. Don't post in exchange for a payment, deal or discount – or if you have a conflict of interest (like if you work for the business).
What details might be helpful for others to know before visiting? Avoid posting about things unrelated to your personal experience (like what you may have heard from others).
Even if your experience wasn't ideal, share the details so others can decide if it's right for them. Specific and useful commentary is more helpful than a heated rant. Harassment is not permitted.

We automatically assess all reviews against our content policies before publishing, which includes robust protections against fake reviews. We rely on our policies and applicable local law to guide all removals.

If you see something that doesn’t look right, like inappropriate content or a business that is offering incentives for reviews, you can report it.

We’ll never stop working to get it right. In 2024, we published more reviews than ever—and we blocked over 240 million fake and policy-violating ones—to make sure your real experiences shine through!
