I’m excited to share some big news!

In case you haven’t heard, this fall the Brooklyn Museum is turning 200—and to mark the occasion, we’re launching a brand-new visual identity. Our updated look reflects the vibrancy and innovation that have always been at the heart of who we are, and I’m delighted to share it with you.

Our new brand is more than just a redesign; it's a celebration of our rich history and a look toward the bold future we envision for the Museum. The logo particularly encapsulates this. The playful intertwining of letters and nods to the details on our building’s neoclassical facade reflect who we are: a blend of tradition and contemporary energy. You'll see this sense of playfulness and timelessness throughout our materials as the full brand rollout progresses.

Along with unveiling a new brand, we’re kicking off our anniversary year by refreshing our “welcome mat” and enhancing your experience at the Museum. As you enter, you’ll discover new exciting artworks, delicious food and drink options, and must-have merch in the Shop.

Plus, mark your calendar for our Birthday Bash on October 5 and 6—think First Saturday times two—where we’ll ring in our 200th with a weekend of art-making, dance, music, curator talks, and more, all generously supported by Bank of America. We’ll also celebrate the opening of two momentous exhibitions: The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition, bringing together an unprecedented number of local artists, and the groundbreaking reinstallation of our American Art collection.

A special thank you to Other Means, a Brooklyn-based graphic design studio that was integral to the rebrand, and our incredible team of designers, staff, and stakeholders for their collaboration. Kudos to all! Stay tuned: other major updates—including a new website, interactive tours, and an ongoing digital series highlighting the icons of our collection—are also on the way.

For over 200 years, we’ve been doing things the Brooklyn way: joyfully, audaciously, and profoundly. With a new visual identity rooted in our mission, I’m thrilled to welcome the next century and beyond!
