Graphics and type are incredibly crisp on my Macbook Pro. The layout has the whitespace, so many other newsletters need (I can focus on each section, what?). Animated GIFs are relevant to the associated content, not just filling in space. There's a lot of colors that somehow manage to be cohesive.
