It's been a while since our last newsletter, and for good reason — we've been rebuilding Type.lol from the ground up. What started as a simple directory has become a full discovery platform for independent type. I'm super excited to highlight what's new!

TrashType

A small confession: TrashType is my (Mark Johnson) foundry. I launched it in October of 2025, but I didn't get to shout about it with the type.lol newsletter so I'm here being shameless. Sorry not sorry. I made a bunch of stuff and now you're looking at it. Oops. Three releases — GORP—a galaxy mandated typeface made by the Galactic Order's Republic of Print. PROGORP, by PROG, a display face by the People's Republic opposing GORP, and Silvermane—a western revival. There is a lot of insane narrative and backstory for each of these, so I highly encourage you checking out the TrashType site and rearranging cards on a table on the Silvermane page or playing the GORP game in your free time.

Valentina Casali is a designer and lettering artist working with C-A-S-T. Her typeface Estrojeune — an upright script with horizontal contrast — is one of those rare designs that manages to be both loud and elegant. Inspired by Aldo Novarese's Estro from 1961, it's perfect for bold visual identities.
