Our Latest Project Explores How the Maker Economy Could Revitalise a Japanese Island

The Japanese island of Kyushu is famous for its traditional crafts: textile, ceramics, paper, tea, and so on. In recent years, this historically-rooted identity has come under increasing pressure due to globalisation, automation and population decline. This week we, together with UNA Laboratories, are launching the Kyushu Crafts Club — a colourful, sensory exhibition that highlights the island’s innovative makers and their strategic role in regional development.

The Kyushu Crafts Club is free to visit between 10 and 16 December at Club Shop in Amsterdam (tea included!) and online at kyushucrafts.club. Please check out the website for more information and to book a time slot for your visit. We hope to welcome you at the exhibition!
