What's new in Starport? Community call this week, new workshop, v0.19.5 released and cross-chain development

Welcome to Starport Updates, your regular source on what the team has been working on, news, events and community initiatives. This month a big focus is around the Starport CLI bug bounty program. Keep scrolling for more updates!

Earn rewards in the Starport CLI bounty program

We released a new bounty worth a prize of $425 USD equivalent in ATOM tokens. The prize will go to the Starport contributor that upgrades the Cosmos SDK to v0.45.1. We're continuing to regularly release new bounties. Take for example, community member Gjermund Bjaaens, who recently resolved a bounty linked to a highly requested and important feature that now enables automated code generation linked directly to a module query.

Congratulations to all the Starport contributors who have already closed issues and earned rewards in the ongoing bug bounty program. We’re grateful to have such a talented and engaged community. Thank you!

Middlesex University hosts Starport workshop

Students from Middlesex University tuned in for a virtual presentation from Alessio Treglia on proof-of-stake and a Starport CLI workshop from Denis Fadeev. We’ll be hosting more academic sessions and workshops with other universities around the world. If you have a recommendation of a university engineering program interested in exposing their students to distributed networks, let us know!

Starport Cosmos Code with Us workshop

The team recently ran an updated workshop on the Cosmos “Scavenger Hunt” Tutorial using Starport. If you are new to blockchain or Starport, this is a great place to learn how to launch a chain and starter application.

New Starport version release

The team released Starport v0.19.5 this week including:

enabling client code & Vuex code gen for query-only module
upgrading Vue template to v0.3.5
fix snake case in code gen & plugin installs for Go => v1.18
code gen now produces only TypeScript files

Why is IBC essential for blockchain devs?
